NYSSRA Race Season is coming… be like these guys!
In other news, the NYSSRA Fall meeting took place on Sunday, Sept 27. Lots of exciting things are in the works for sure. First of all the NYSSRA Championships will be at Saratoga Biathlon Club on Feb 27-28. The Club Championship Relay will be Saturday and will be a 6 x 2 km freestyle sprint format (just like the good old days). Sunday’s distance Championship race will be the 30 km Great Sacandaga Mini-Marathon! The first “race” of the season is the annual membership Drive. The club with the most registered NYSSRA skiers by Dec. 1 gets a leg up on the Club Championship Series. Even if you don’t plan on ski racing, joining NYSSRA makes sure that races can actually happen. So, join NYSSRA today and support the Evil Empire!
The 2016 Cookie Clash at Dewey Mountain is penciled in for Saturday February 14… It’ll be a Valentine’s day treat! Bring your sweetie to the Cookie Clash.
It looks like NYSSRA will become an affiliate of USSA. This really doesn’t mean much, but you will be able become a USSA member and to register for the national USSA masters points list for a reduced cost (like for $15).
The Wilkinson Cup Races are going to be held at Osceola, Queensbury, Old Forge and at the ESWGs and the NYSSRA Champs. This year scoring for the Wilkinson Cup and the HUGE cash prize will be performance based instead of participation based. Don’t worry, the NYSSRA Points series will not change.
Røllërlåf World Champ!
Finally, Røllërlåf was successfully resurrected from the crypt. This old race was put on hiatus due to crappy pavement, but now the Reber Road in Willsboro has been mostly repaved. Chris Rose won the freestyle event, which included a 5 km rollerski with a steep hillclimb finish and a transition to a trailrun/hike up to the summit of Sugarloaf Mt.
