Rollerski Armageddon is nigh! The annual SUFFERFEST up Prospect Mt. in Lake George happens this Sunday, Nov 2 at 11 am (don’t forget that the clocks change Sunday morning).
This fun training event usually features the best skiers from Northern NY gathering to see how well their Summer/Fall training has set them up for the upcoming NYSSRA racing season. Expect heavy hitters from Peru Nordic, HURT Nordic, Adirondack Vauhti, Saratoga Biathlon Club and even some guests from Vermont to show up and throw down on the slopes of Prospect Mt. In addition, essential Viking Helmet Championship Series points are on the line!
The Prospect Mt. Highway is closed to vehicle traffic, so skiers should be prepared to carry summit supplies with them as they race towards the top. Remember, weather is subject to severe change, and in November, expect cold temperatures, rain, snow, ice and/or wind. Likewise, skiers should be prepared to hike down after the event. Rollerskiing down the road is not recommended nor is it condoned by the Peru Nordic Masters.
Forecast is for cool/cold temps (in the 30s) and rain/snow on Saturday, so be prepared for potential icing on the road. (the event will still go on, plan to ski as far up the road as you can if road conditions do not permit making it to the summit). Meet at 10:30 for the 11 am start. SUFFERING OVERDUE!
