Well, that sucked
The season had started with such promise, Van Ho was open, the VHCS was underway, the NYSEF Opener was in the books. As the Holiday period came closer, it looked like it would be full of skiing cheer.
Then the storm came. In Peru, freezing conditions led to severe icing. While at Mount Van Hoevenberg, the inversion kept temperatures near 50 degrees with soaking rains.
Needless to say, this has put a damper on holiday skiing plans. However, rumor has it that ORDA will open the Ski Jumps to skiing if Van Ho cannot open between Xmas and New Years. Likewise, the HURT Mega-Relay is still a go at Garnet Hill on New Year’s Day.
Undaunted, the annual Peru Nordic Tour de Ski will kick off on December 27. Skiers will earn VHCS Points for participating in outdoor activities (hopefully skiing) between the 27th and January 1st. All is not lost!
To cheer you up, here’s a SkitanicA holiday classic!
