Happy Sufferfest Eve!
The annual SUFFERFEST up Prospect Mountain is set to go tomorrow, Nov 3rd. Skiers should be at the start by 10:45 for a prompt 11 am ish ascent. Remember, if you are planning to SUFFERFEST, then you must bring your own summit gear and hiking sneakers for the trip down. The weather is forecast to be “overcast in the morning, then mostly cloudy. High of 39F with a windchill as low as 27F. Winds from the North at 10 to 15 mph.” Be prepared for cold and blustery conditions at the summit. There is NO summit support and skiers are responsible for their own safety, comfort and well being.
To tune up for the SUFFERFEST, the Peru Nordic Masters met at Point Au Roche on Friday Nov 1st to take part in the annual CARNIVAL of SINS Rollerski Carnival of Sins. Skiers skied two laps of the Tri-Tone course, but had to take part in various carnival games during the race. Skiers had to first try their hand at the frisbee toss, then test their skills at the beanbag Tic-Tac-Toe toss, and had to navigate the treacherous agility obstacle course. To add to the carnival atmosphere, gusty 20 mph winds hammered the skiers and wreaked havoc with the frisbees. In a sprint finish, a wind-aided Chris Rose edged Jim Kobak by 0.666 seconds for yet another Carnival of Sins Cup Championship.
The Weekly TERRORSTORM gatherings will continue at Point Au Roche at 4:30 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays through November… or at least until the snow falls and the WAR ENSEMBLE can assemble at Mount Van Ho!!!
