This week the BEAST took some time to reflect on the state of Mother Earth as they raced to the Summit of Sugarloaf Mt.
On Wednesday, the fore-runners Chris “Carbon Fiber Footprint” Rose set the pace with an 18:30 to the top, he was followed by Jim “If green is the new black, then I like my coffee green” Kobak who scampered up in 19:37. Jake “Renewable Energy, Sustainable Peace, Ultimate Rangers” Gittler made it up in just over 21 minutes.
Kobak joined the rest of the crew to reduce, reuse, recycle and rerun the course the next day. He paced the field on Thursday with an 18:38, almost a minute faster than the previous day’s time “I made sure to have some fair trade organic Gu just before the race.” He was slightly faster than Jason “Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute” Fiegl. Tom “May the Forest be with you” Moffett put in his best time ever, clocking in at just over 20 minutes.
Tim “Burn Calories, Not Oil!” Singer even came over from the Green (mountain) State to put in a quality time up Sugarloaf. Katie “A good planet is hard to find” Moffett set a personal best. And Jerry “It’s not easy being green” Ross managed to keep his achilles from exploding.
As usual, you get to vote for the BEASTie that was the most “EARTH DAY”
Next week the BEAST travels to Poko-Moonshine Mountain to commemorate the anniversary of the CHERNOBYL Disaster. Fore-Runners will meet at 4 on Wednesday, the BEAST strikes at 5 on Thursday!
