Peru Nordic Skiers Atop Empire State Games Day One

Amanda "Marit Bjoergen" Zullo celebrates a big ESG win!!!

Amanda Zullo and Jon  Santor won their respective races in Day One action at the Empire State Games at beautiful Mt. Van Hoevenberg.  Over a foot of new snow fell on Friday, making today’s 10 k classic conditions soft and somewhat slow.  Santor won the Men’s Open class, and Zullo won the Women’s Masters Class.  Peru Nordic’s Doug Diehl managed second overall in the Men’s Masters class.

Don't mess with the Curse of Pharaohs!!!

Also skiing strong races in the Men’s Masters Class today were Chris Rose, Stan Hatch, Jim Kobak, Ed Lis, Jerry Curcio and Jim Adams. Look for the Peru Nordic Masters to battle hard in tomorrow’s 10 k freestyle pursuit.

Rose powers his way through the Biathlon Stadium!
