The Peru Nordiques have been kicking their training up to 11 over recent weeks in preparation for the NYSEF climb to the Castle rollerski race on Friday, Oct 8. Every monday through October, the Peruvians meet at Point Au Roche in Beekmantown for some technique building and a 6.66 km time trial. Next week, Columbus Day, features the 6.66 km “Conquest of the Americas” time trial.
In addition, the Peru Nordic Masters have been hitting the high peaks, with the peakbagging team collecting summits like the New York Jets have been collecting AFC East divisional wins. Bob “Lord of Destruction” Maswick has reached the 30 summit plateau in his quest to be the next Peru Nordique to Climb the Adirondack 46.
The Rollerski Season continues with the Carnival of Sins, a 10 km Classic followed by a 10 km skate in Peru on Oct 30. Racers may opt to do either the classic or the skate, or, the gluttonous classic/skate combo. Register online now. On November 6th the Peru Nordic Masters head down to Prospect Mt. in Lake George for the annual SUFFERFEST! Expect many of NYSSRA’s elite to be on hand, including defending World Champion Doug Diehl
