Empire of Evil Eviscerates Empire State Games

The Peru Nordic Masters swept into the friendly confines of Mount Van Hoevenberg for the annual Empire State Games, and came away with a bucketfull of medals.

The Peru Nordiques had a smaller than usual force at the games.  This was due in part to conflicts with the Gatineau Loppet, the new ESG fee, and a mysterious Giardiasis infection.  However, the small contingent that was on hand still managed to capture 6 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Leading the charge was Janet “Banshee of Bedlam” Findlay who won the overall gold in both Saturday’s women’s freestyle and Sunday’s pursuit.

Jim “Harvester of Sorrow” Kobak took the overall masters freestyle gold on Saturday, but was brought back to the field in the classic race, settling for third place overall in the Sunday pursuit.

Jon “Anathema of Outrage” Santor rocketed to the men’s open silver on Saturday, and came up just inches short in a tough battle with NYSSRA overall points leader, Eric Seyse, and had to settle for bronze on Sunday.

Stan “Enigma of Uncertainty” Hatch was a double gold medal winner in the M4M, winning both the Freestyle and the Pursuit races.

Bob “Lord of Destruction” Maswick Earned silver in the M6M on Saturday, but was passed on Sunday by Ernie Bayles leaving him with Bronze in that category on Sunday.

Jim “Wrench of Retribution” Adams won silver in the M7M on Saturday, and despite a faster classic time on Sunday, could not bridge the gap and took home silver in the pursuit.

Chris “Hand of Doom” Rose mysteriously put in the worst ESG freestyle time in recorded history while at home sick and in his pajamas on Saturday.  However, on Sunday he skied a strong classic lap to win the M2M Gold medal in the pursuit!

Eschewing the ESG’s, Chris “Hellhound of Hades” Beattie won his age class at the 27 km classic Gatineau Loppet on Saturday!!  Ed “Distributor of Pain” Lis also raced in the 27 km freestyle race at Gatineau on Sunday.
