To celebrate the start of the National Weather Service’s Official Hurricane Season, members of the Peru Nordic Masters trained yesterday with a quick run up Hurricane Mountain in Keene, NY. As one might expect, torrential rain hammered the crew on the way up. Buffeted by high winds they clawed their way to the summit. As they crested on to the mighty summit ridge, the eye of the storm moved overhead, and they were greeted with clearing, although still tumultuous skies.
Not only is June the start of Atlantic Hurricane season, but also it is the official start of the Peru Nordic Summer Training Season. Highlights of the summer season include the Iron Maiden Triathlon, the Week of Death, the I’M HIT series, NENSA Rollerski races, and copious amounts of peakbagging adventures in the Adirondack High Peaks and Northern New England.
