Perhaps it was the wet weather, or perhaps the fear of what lurks behind Sugarloaf. Whatever it was, the SLOP FEST suffered its lowest turnout of the series. Jim Kobak barely edged Jerry Ross and an obviously depleted Jay Fiegl to capture the ultra- fast SLOP FEST #6. Fiegl was still recovering from the Shelburne 15 k, where he put in a 1:02, and had to back it off in today’s race. Jerry, fresh after taking last week’s SLOP race off, was firing on all cylinders, finishing ahead of Fiegl and only 22 seconds behind Kobak.
