This Mid-March weekend provided spectacular weather for the Peru Nordic Masters. On Saturday, the annual RAGNAROK: Hammer of the Gods race to the GOAT was held at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. On Sunday, the Peakbagging team assaulted three more High Peaks.
Jim Kobak captured another RAGNAROK title, besting Chris Rose by 20 seconds. The MVH Crew did an outstanding job preparing the trails. The big machine was out and pulverized the frozen snow into a rocket-fast sugar.
The Harvester of Sorrow was joined once again by the Willbury of Woe, Jason Fiegl, as they took advantage of the sunny weather to climb Algonquin, Iroquois and Wright Peaks.
Icy conditions prevailed and the duo used deft crampon work to get over the peaks.
It was still frosty and cold atop Algonquin, but the strong March sun beat down all morning long. Conditions were awesome on Iroquois.
As the day warmed, the climbers were able to strip down into T-shirts as they climbed to the summit of Wright Peak.
Next weekend marks the official end of the winter hiking season on Saturday, and, the Dr Dave memorial race is still planned for Sunday… It could be the final blow-out of the 08-09 Ski season!!!
